The Agony and the Ecstasy and the Wrath and the Sigh

The Agony and the Ecstasy and the Wrath and the Sigh

Maybe you heard that Apple was bringing out a new Mac Pro tower?  Well it wasn’t strictly true.  New wheel covers, new turn signal maybe, but the upgrade some of us have been waiting for — waiting years — did not arrive.  My aging tower was already in hand-me-down mode but it’s mine all mine again.

New York Times technology savant David Pogue blogged yesterday from Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference:

  • “Many Apple observers… wonder if Apple thinks that desktop computers are dead, since not a word was said about the iMac and Mac Pro. An executive did assure me, however, that new models and new designs are under way, probably for release in 2013.”

Would Apple lie to David Pogue?  I’ve been a loyal Apple fan over a decade.  I’m seasoned, I have doubts.

Yet MacRumors posts that:

  • A MacRumors reader writes in to share an email he received from Apple CEO Tim Cook after he asked about the future of the Mac Pro:
  • “Our pro customers are really important to us…don’t worry as we’re working on something really great for later next year.”

Later next year?  This from the man who recently welcomed us — how many times in one hour? — to the Post-Computer World.

I’ve been told that Siamese cats that have not been bred for smaller craniums are called apple-headed.  They’re the exceptions now.  How I hope the meaning won’t reverse in geek-talk, so that another round of agony-ecstasy-wrath-sigh will mean my Apple-headedness remains beneficial to brain health.

But also, YIPPEEEEEE!!!

This blog is delighted to announce that finally it’s able to embed videos.  At least the YouTube variety.  And we’re working on the all-important Vimeo.

Which becomes even more important once you try posting a YouTube video and see that YouTube forces a junky look into the blog — no thanks, sirs and madams.

Ok, yippee.
